From September 2026, primary schools will begin implementing Ireland’s new Primary Curriculum Framework. This updated curriculum has been developed by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) to reflect the changing world in which children are growing up. Today’s children are learning in a society shaped by digital technology, rapid access to information, changing workplaces and increasingly diverse communities. The new framework is designed to ensure that learning remains relevant, engaging and meaningful for all children.

The curriculum places a strong emphasis on being child-centred, inclusive and flexible, while also responding to the individual needs of learners. Its aim is to support children in developing the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to thrive both now and in the future. Through the new curriculum, children will be encouraged to become confident learners, effective communicators, critical thinkers and active participants in their communities and society.

In Broadford we are looking forward to this new approach!
